KUALA LUMPUR: A private school teacher was bound over for two years on a good behaviour bond of RM2,000 by the magistrate's court here for stealing goods from a supermarket six months ago.

Magistrate Nur A'minahtul Mardiah Md Nor meted out the sentence against Kho Yen Yen, 37, after she pleaded guilty to the charge Thursday.

The magistrate also ordered her to report at the nearest police station once a month for two years and if Kho, 37, failed to abide the condition, she would be jailed.

She said that as a teacher, Kho should set a good example and not use the excuse that she forgot to pay for the items.

Kho was charged with stealing a bottle of Nestle Bliss Original drink, one box of Olay Te Gtle SPF 15, a pastry deco, a bottle of Safi moisturiser and a bottle of Bertolli Olive Oil worth RM110.85.

She was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.

The offence was committed at the Aeon Big supermarket in Mid Valley Megamall here at 11.30am on June 10.

Earlier in mitigation, Kho said she was a teacher at a private school and she had forgotten to pay the goods and had no intention to steal the goods.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Hajar Mohd Ashif urged the court to hand down a sentence which would serve as a lesson to the accused.
